Findings from our Blue Light Programme
We’ve just published a report into the mental health needs of 999 new recruits, as part of our Blue Light Programme, which supports emergency service teams.
Our research shows that new recruits can find life in the emergency services tougher than expected. They don’t always feel prepared to deal with the difficult things they see and hear for the first time. New recruits told us they want every new member of team 999 across England and Wales to receive mandatory mental health training, to help them cope with day to day stress and difficult situations.
